[there's always that one time, no matter how much work you put into trying to not trigger it, that a trap blows up in your face for no good reason at all aside from that whoever set it really wanted it to go off in your face. Maybe even yours in particular, who knows!
…it doesn't help that this is an effect Hawk hasn't seen before. Lunar magic is a little unpredictable.]

Sabin is floored for a second, but he quickly picks himself back up. Whatever that was, he certainly feels off-center now. He quickly yells to his travelmate to see if he's alright—] Hawk—what the...?!
[And that's not the right voice. Oh, boy.]

He's not going to live this down, is he.]
So apparently that wasn't quite as disarmed as I thought it was. You okay? …aside from the obvious, I mean.
[It's pretty disconcerting, after all. Not just the voice, but the way he feels… he's not used to feeling this heavy.]

Now his partner in traveling was a lot taller than him. In his body, too.]
I don't think that was supposed to happen, but yeah. I'm alright. How about you?

Good. Me? [He glances down, dusting himself off lightly.] I'm alright too. Just… how'd you get used to being this tall?

The question earns a hearty laugh from Hawk's old body, Sabin's personality seemingly intact.] I just kind of got used to it, I guess! Don't go complaining about my body, kid. It might hurt my feelings.

Would I do that? I wouldn't do that. [He affects an injured look, but it only lasts a few moments before he's grinning again.] It's different, that's all.
no subject
You just did! That's what it sounded like to me. [He laughs again, but his grin fades.] What're we supposed to do? I've never heard of anything like this before.

Well, they're quite trustworthy ears, so I suppose it must be true! [He sucks on his bottom lip, thinking.] My guess would be it's some kind of lunar effect, but… I don't know enough to be able to reverse it. [And could he, like this? That's a question that'll remain unanswered.] We should try finding someone who does.

Is there a problem with my ears, then? [He doesn't think so, but then again...Hawk is a completely different type of traveler than he is. He wouldn't be surprised if his hearing was a bit better now.] We're in your neck of the woods, right? I'll follow your lead. Got anyone in mind?

Hmm… well nothing seems amiss now. They pass. The Beastmen would deal with lunar magic the most… but this isn't quite their thing. It might be easiest to appeal to the moon spirit herself.

It could do. …that'd be embarrassing, if we went all that way. Still, we don't know for sure.
